Domains and HTTPS
Point a custom domain at your application and configure an HTTPS certificate.
Before you start
You need access to your domain's DNS settings and an application that is running. Confirm the destination server address with support; the domain panel currently directs you to support for the server IP address.
Add a custom domain
- Open the application and its domain controls.
- Choose Add Custom Domain.
- Enter the domain and the routing fields your application needs.
- Select Enable HTTPS and choose Let's Encrypt to request a certificate.
- Select Add Domain.
Configure DNS
At your DNS provider, point the hostname to the destination confirmed for your application. Use an A record for an IPv4 destination or a CNAME for a hostname, as appropriate to the instructions you receive and your DNS provider.
Do not copy an example IP address into your DNS records. Your domain must point to the actual hosting destination.
Verify the result
After DNS resolves to the expected destination, open your domain over HTTPS and check that the correct application responds. A domain appearing in the dashboard is not, by itself, proof that public DNS or certificate issuance has succeeded.
If the address does not work, check DNS, the application's listening port, and its deployment status. See Troubleshooting.
Remove a domain
Removing a domain from the dashboard removes its application routing. It does not remove DNS records held by your DNS provider. Update those records separately when you stop using the domain.
