Environment variables
Configure the values your application needs at build time or runtime.
Add or edit variables
- Open your application and its environment variable editor.
- Add the names and values your application expects, or edit existing entries.
- Select Save Changes.
- Start a new deployment so the application uses the saved values.
Saving the editor does not immediately update an already running application. The editor indicates that changes take effect on the next deployment.
Choose the right names
Use the names defined by your application's code or framework. A database connection string might use a name such as DATABASE_URL, but Dawlify does not make that name a requirement for every app.
Avoid changing reserved system entries. The editor protects system-managed keys such as NODE_OPTIONS.
Keep secrets on the server
Do not put passwords, database credentials, or private API keys in variables that your framework exposes to browser code. Public build variables become part of the application delivered to users.
Do not commit an environment file containing credentials to your repository. When asking for help, share variable names and redacted error messages instead of secret values.
Troubleshoot a missing value
Check spelling and capitalization, verify that the value was saved, and confirm that you deployed after the change. If the value is needed during the build, inspect the build logs as well as the running application's logs.
